Werder Bremen vs Udinese Highlights

Werder Bremen took a small step towards the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup with a 3-1 win over Udinese at home.

It could have been a perfect evening for the Bundesliga side as two goals from Diego and one from Hugo Almeida put them firmly in control of the tie, but a Fabio Quagliarella strike three minutes from the end gives Udinese a ray of hope for the second leg.

The away goal gives the Bianconeri a glimmer of hope for the return at the Stadio Friuli next Thursday and leaves Udinese with all to play for in front of their own fans next week.

Hamburg SV vs Manchester City Highlights

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes saw his side make a stunning start in the UEFA Cup quarter-final only to throw away the lead in the end at the Nordbank Arena.

Stephen Ireland’s opener after only 35 seconds only prompted an onslaught from Hamburg, who will take a two-goal advantage into the return leg at Eastlands next week.

City’s hopes of progress are hanging by a thread and require a superb performance back home after another dismal away day despite a superb display by goalkeeper Shay Given.

Manchester sity have secured just eight points from a possible 48 away from home in the Premier League.

Yet they could not have wished for a better beginning to the game. Ireland started and finished the move, picking out Robinho pass.

PSG vs Dynamo Kiev Highlights

Dynamo Kiev will be having a slight advantage to cling onto heading into next week’s UEFA Cup quarter-final second leg against Paris St Germain after holding out for a goalless draw at the Parc des Princes.

PSG edged the first leg in the French capital, but they will disappointed for not taking advantage of a number of openings they created in an open first half.

But Dynamo came back hard in the second half and probably deserved a draw overall and will fancy their chances of finishing the job next Thursday, given their redoubtable form at home this season.

However, the sight of midfielder Carlos Correa being stretchered off will have ruined what was an ultimately successful outing for Dynamo coach Yuri Semin.
