Juventus vs Lazio Highlights: Copa Italia

Lazio reached the Italian Cup final with a 2-1 win at Turin which completed a 4-2 aggregate semi-final victory over Juventus on Wednesday.

Argentine forward Mauro Zarate curled a splendid right-foot shot into the corner in the 38th minute and Serbian full back Aleksandar Kolarov doubled the lead with a deflected strike in the second half.

Captain Alessandro Del Piero came off the bench to pull one back for the home side, who had substitute Mauro Camoranesi sent off in the closing stages when he protested after being booked.

The exit came in a difficult week for Juventus with the turmoil caused by the racist chants their fans directed at Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli last weekend.

It left them with little hope of winning silverware this season as they are 10 points behind leaders Inter Milan in joint second in Serie A and speculation about coach Claudio Ranieri’s future is likely to increase.

Sergio Pellissier was the hat-trick hero as battling Chievo snatched a deserved point in a thrilling encounter with Juventus in Turin.

Pellissier gave Chievo a deserved lead in the 25th minute before Giorgio Chiellini equalised for Juve nine minutes later.

The Chievo striker’s second of the game handed the visitors the lead at half-time before an own goal by Mario Yepes and a Vincenzo Iaquinta strike put Juventus back in lead.

However, Pellissier had the last laugh as he stunned the Stadio Olimpico at the death, firing in a equalizer which dents Juve’s title hopes and lifts Chievo a point closer to safety at the foot of Serie A.

AS Roma vs Juventus Highlights: Serie A Highlights

Juventus are now within four points of Serie A leaders Inter Milan with a comprehensive 4-1 victory away to Roma tonight.

Vincenzo Iaquinta scored a brace with Olof Mellberg and Pavel Nedved also joining the scoring fest for Claudio Ranieri’s side, who showed no mercy for a depleted Roma side.

Roma’s consolation goal came from Simone Loria, who responded to the first of Iaquinta’s goals to bring the home side level three minutes into the second half, but there was no way back after Iaquinta grabbed his and Juve’s second in the 55th minute.

League leaders Inter host Reggina tomorrow and can restore their seven-point lead at the top of the table with a win while Roma will slip five points behind fourth place if either Genoa or Fiorentina win tomorrow.

Roma were without 11 members of their first-team squad due to injury and suspension, leaving coach Luciano Spalletti with a tough task just to get 11 fit players on the pitch.

He succeeded, but that was the only battle he won on a torrid night at the Stadio Olimpico.
