Clarence Seedorf rounded off a glorious team effort to sink struggling Chievo and strengthen AC Milan’s bid for Champions League qualification berth.

The veteran midfielder guided the ball past Stefano Sorrentino early in the second half after Marek Jankulovski and Filippo Inzaghi had both turned down shooting chances to set him up.

Milan did not have it all their own way, though, and boss Carlo Ancelotti had to watch most of the game from the stands after being sent off for protesting too much over a first-half free-kick.

Two late strikes broke Lecce hearts as AC Milan cemented their grip on third place in Serie A with a last-gasp win at the San Siro.

Ronaldinho and Filippo Inzaghi scored in second-half injury time to move Milan to within five points of second-placed Juventus, who were held to a draw earlier today.

Lecce arguably had the better chances of a lackluster contest which only came to life when the 90 minutes were up, but the visitors nevertheless left beaten and still mired in the bottom three.

AC Milan failed to respond to wins for Inter Milan and Juventus this weekend as they were restricted to a goalless affair at Napoli tonight.

Napoli had a valid goal disallowed in the first half and came the closest to breaking the deadlock in a tense but goalless encounter at the Stadio San Paolo, but they remain without a win in more than two months now.

Meanwhile, Milan can now certainly now write off their hopes of lifting the Serie A title as they now trail Inter by 14 points with nine games of the season remaining.

Siena vs AC Milan Highlights: Serie A Highlights

AC Milan outside brushed aside Siena with ease in Tuscany this afternoon to consolidate third place in the Serie A standings.

Andrea Pirlo opened the scoring from the penalty spot but it then became the Filippo Inzaghi show with the veteran striker scoring one in each half to reach the impressive landmark of 300 career goals.

Alexandre Pato also scored a brace while Massimo Maccarone pulled one back for the beleaguered hosts, who were guilty of wasting a number of chances.

Paul Codrea also hit the crossbar for the Robur late on.
