Samuel Eto’o routed Werder Bremen as Inter Milan delivered a lesson in clinical finishing at the San Siro tonight.

The Cameroon international scored a hat-trick and the influential Wesley Sneijder was also on target as the Champions League holders continued their domiannt display in Europe under the new coach Rafa Benitez.

The tie was all but over in the first 34 minutes, by which time the hosts were three up, Eto’o rounding off the win by completing his treble late on.

Victory lifted Rafael Benitez’s men level on four points with Tottenham at the top of Group A.

FC Basel vs Bayern Munich Highlights: Champions League

Bastian Schweinsteiger struck a second-half double as Bayern Munich fought back from a goal down to beat Basle at St Jakob Park. Bayern were deservedly behind at half-time after Alexander Frei’s wonderful 18th minute strike, but the Bavarians roared back after the break.

Schweinsteiger equalised from the penalty spot 10 minutes into the second half and sealed the win two minutes from time when he turned in Holger Badstuber’s free-kick at the back post.

Victory for Bayern means they have won both of their two matches in Group E so far while for Basle it was a second successive defeat.

Bayern Munich vs Mainz Highlights: German Bundesliga

Mainz are on course to break the record for consecutive wins at the start of a Bundesliga season by defeating defending champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Sami Allagui put Thomas Tuchel’s side ahead in the 15th minute before an own goal from Bo Svensson canceled the lead on the stroke of half-time.

The league leaders made it six wins in a row thanks to Adam Szalai’s strike in the 77th minute, leaving Mainz just one win short of the record set by both Bayern and Kaiserslautern for most victories at the start of a top-flight campaign.

Schalke 04 vs Borussia Monchengladbach: German Bundesliga

Schalke’s star signing Raul scored his first goal in the Bundesliga in the final moments to salvage a point at home against ten-man Borussia Monchengladbach. Gladbach grabbed the lead after 15 minutes with Filip Daems converting a penalty before Michael Bradley made it 2-0 for the visitors in the 43rd minute.

Schalke’s last minute signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar cut the deficit after seven minutes into the second half and Gladbach went a man down with 12 minutes left as Roel Brouwers was shown the red card. That set the stage for Raul to hit the back of the net for the first time in the 87th minute to snatch a point from Glabbach.
