Chelsea vs Newcastle United Highlights: EPL Highlights

Newcastle’s Shola Ameobi sent 10-man Chelsea crashing out of the Carling Cup with a 90th-minute stunner in a seven-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, who lost Salomon Kalou and Yossi Benayoun through injury, had taken a sixth-minute lead through young left-back Patrick Van Aanholt only for Newcastle to storm back and lead at the interval thanks to goals from Nile Ranger and Ryan Taylor.

Shola Ameobi made it 3-1 to United four minutes after the re-start but two goals from Nicolas Anelka (69, 86) looked to have taken the tie into extra-time.

However, Ameobi headed the winner from a Jonas Gutierrez corner in the 90th minute to earn United a deserved place in round four.

Chelsea vs Blackpool Highlights: EPL Highlights

Chelsea stayed top with a 4-0 thumping win over Blackpool and it was all too easy for the reigning champions.
Salomon Kalou put the Blues up 1-0 inside two minutes when he tapped home a Didier Drogba corner at the far post. Florent Malouda then finished off a three-man move to make it two in the 12th minute.

Drogba made it three for Carlo Ancelotti’s side when his shot on the turn was deflected past Matthew Gilks on the half-hour and Malouda added a fourth in the 41st minute. Blackpool offered little resistance in response, and Chelsea eased off in the second half to keep the score respectable.

West Ham vs Chelsea Highlights: EPL Highlights

Chelsea’s dominant start to the new season continued against rock-bottom West Ham at Upton Park as a brace from Michael Essien and another from Salomon Kalou kept them top of the Premier League.

West Ham midfielder Scott Parker became the first player to score against the Blues this season but his late effort was just a consolation for the Hammers.

Chelsea’s victory over their London rivals piled more pressure on under-fire manager Avram Grant, whose side remained rooted to the foot of the table without a single point from their opening four games and having conceded a mammoth 12 goals. In contrast, Carlo Ancelotti’s team have now scored 17 and conceded just once.
