Sunderland vs Manchester City Highlights: EPL Highlights

Darren Bent’s extra time penalty condemned Manchester City to their first defeat of the season as a glaring miss by Carlos Tevez proved to be very costly.

The Sunderland striker converted the spot-kick in the fourth minute of added time to snatch all three points from the visitors after being hauled down by Micah Richards in front of goal.

Bent’s strike was the Black Cats’ reward for a spirited second-half fightback after Tevez had let them off the hook with an astonishing early miss.

The Argentinian fired high over an open goal after being played in by Yaya Toure, and the visitors were made to pay as the points slipped away.

Werder Bremen vs FC Cologne Highlights: Bundesliga

Werder Bremen picked up their first three points of the Bundesliga season thanks to a Marko Arnautovic inspired 4-2 win over Cologne.

The Austrian international scored twice and created a third as Bremen enjoyed a good lead for most of the game that saw both sides score after 90 minutes.

Three goals also came in four first-half at the Weser Stadion, the hosts taking the lead with a penalty from Torsten Frings in the 33rd minute before Arnautovic doubled their advantage three minutes later.

Lukas Podolski equalised within 60 seconds, but Bremen were always in control and added two more goals from Hugo Almeida and Arnautovic in the second half.

Kevin McKenna grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.

Fabio Capello should have heaved a sigh of relief as Rooney managed to score his first goal since March and Manchester United kept the pressure on both Arsenal and Chelsea at top as they beat West Ham 3-0.

Rooney netted from the spot in the first half after Jonathan Spector’s poorly timed tackle on Ryan Giggs. While Nani was nowhere to be seen for the spot-kick after last weeks miss, the Portuguese winger cut inside brilliantly to fire United’s second, before Dimitar Berbatov’s maintained his goal scoring streak with an agile finish from his cross sealed the points.
