Manchester United vs Wigan Highlights: EPL(30.12.2009)
Wayne Rooney delivered another gem of a performance as Wigan meekly surrendered to Manchester United for the second time this season in a 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford.
With all the injured players coming back, United are only two points adrift of Chelsea, they have almost achieved parity in the goal difference column too after another five-goal mauling of the hapless Latics, who seem ill equipped to survive a relegation scrap.
Former Wigan star Antonio Valencia had a productive night, after being involved in three assists and scoring the final Premier League goal of 2009 against his old club.
But Rooney was the main man, opening United’s account with his 15th goal of the season and getting himself right into the heart of a performance Wigan could not have complained about if it had brought the hosts double figures.

Portsmouth vs Arsenal highlights: EPL(30.12.2009)
Portsmouth’s troubles on and off the pitch aggravated following a 4-1 home demolotion by Arsenal, who remain in the hunt for the Premier League title.
From this result it is clear Pompey, FA Cup winners last year under Harry Redknapp face an uphill battle to save themselves from relegation come May 2010.
Arsenal fans, meanwhile, could well have the champagne on ice in anticipation of what may yet prove a vintage year for Arsene Wenger’s young Gunners, whoare now just four points behind leaders Chelsea and with a game in hand.
The visitors were always in command after Eduardo’s free-kick had deflected off Younes Kaboul, before Samir Nasri drilled in a second just before half-time and Wales teenager Aaron Ramsey replacing Fabregas smashed home a third on 69 minutes.
Although Nadir Belhadj – one of several Pompey players set to leave for African Nations Cup duty pulled one back, Cameroon midfielder Alex Song nodded in a fourth with 10 minutes left.

Bolton vs Hull City Highlights: EPL
Hull midfielder Stephen Hunt scored twice in the last 19 minutes as Bolton’s defensive blunders allowed the Tigers to snatch a point in a 2-2 draw at the Reebok Stadium.
Bolton looked comfortable after Ivan Klasnic’s 20th-minute goal and Kevin Davies’ second-half header.
However, Hunt nodded in from close range to spread panic in a defense without a clean sheet all season and the Republic of Ireland international’s cross-shot produced the equalizer 12 minutes from time.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool Highlights: EPL(29.12.09)
Liverpool star striker Fernando Torres scored an injury-time 50th Premier League goal, to make him the fastest player in the club’s history to reach that mark and give his side a Champions League lifeline with a 1-0 win against Aston Villa.
Reds’ goalkeeper Pepe Reina had been the hero after stopping Stewart Downing with a brilliant reflex stop and then Gabriel Agbonlahor saw his effort blocked by Reina’s legs. Both sides then had more good chances to break the deadlock, but Torres then latched onto a ball following a blunder from Stephen Warnock and drilled a low shot across Brad Friedel in the 93rd minute.
This victory means Rafael Benitez’s side are only two points behind Villa and three adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham in the race for European places.
