Manchester City skipper Kolo Toure saved the club from derby blues by scoring the winner in extra-time at Eastlands to take them into the fourth round of the Carling Cup with a 2-1 win over Fulham.
It was his first goal since he arrived from Arsenal in the summer. It was the west Londoners who opened the scoring with a wonder goal from Zoltan Gera in the 32nd minute , only for Gareth Barry to pull City level seven minutes into second Half .
City found it hard going against Fulham after losing in stoppage time against Manchester United on Sunday but Toure found the target in the 111th minute to edge Mark Hughes’ men into the last 16.

Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole returned successfully from his long-term knee injury to help defeat QPR 1-0 and send the Premier League leaders into the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
The 27-year-old, named by manager Carlo Ancelotti as skipper for the evening, was playing in his first match since January and set up Salomon Kalou’s winner at Stamford Bridge.

David Ngog struck the only goal as a much changed Liverpool side sneaked past a battling Leeds side 1-0 in the Carling Cup.
The Premier League giants were outplayed by the League One leaders for much of the third-round tie but Ngog netted against the run of play 65 minutes into the match.
Leeds spurned a number of chances as Elland Road enjoyed a big-game atmosphere once again, but a lack of composure in front of goal cost them dearly. Striker Jermaine Beckford endured a particularly frustrating night as he missed several good chances and had a goal in the first half disallowed.

Mexican prodigy Carlos Vela came off the bench to inspire Arsene Wenger’s young Gunners to a 2-0 Carling Cup victory over 10-man West Brom at the Emirates Stadium.
The 19-year-old marked his return from an ankle injury when his shot set up Sanchez Watt for the opener in the 68th minute and then added the second, a tap-in after Mark Randall’s clever chip came back off the crossbar.
