Sporting Lisbon vs FC Twente Highlights : Champions League Highlights

Sporting Lisbon, who reached the knockout stage last season only to be humiliated 12-1 on aggregate by Bayern Munich, were held to a goalless draw in Lisbon by 10-man Twente Enschede, managed by former England cach Steve McClaren.

The Dutch side had goalkeeper Sander Boscher sent after 24 minutes for bringing down Helder Postiga but Joao Moutinho failed to convert the subsequent penalty and Sporting could not make their numerical advantage pay.

Werder Bremen vs Valencia Highlights

Werder Bremen secured a draw after regular time against Valencia in the final rehearsal ahead of their German Cup match against Union Berlin. But the Spaniards won the match in the penalty shootout of the Sparkasse Emsland Cup in Meppen. Hugo Almedia (29th) and Mesut Özil (31st – penalty) gave Werder the 2-0 lead. Valencia came back stronger after the break and Zigic scored twice (58th and 76th) to send the game into penalties.

In the shootout, the first three players – Carleto, Hunt and Jordi Alba – converted their penalties before Valencia keeper Cesar stopped Philipp Bargfrede’s shot. The next three shots were good as well by Zigic and Joaquin for Valencia and Naldo for Werder. But then again Cesar was better than Marcelo Moreno Martins to decide the game.
