China ended their World Cup qualifying campaign on a high note with a 1-0 victory over a below-par Australia on Sunday. Defender Sun Xiang scored the decisive goal in the 12th minute to provide the Chinese with their first win in Group A against a second-string Australian team. This was the first defeat at home for the Australians in a World Cup qualifier for 27 years.
