Arsenal were the first to take the lead when an unmarked Adebayor scored from Van Persie’s corner, but Reds leveled things with Kuyt scored the equalizer from a superb pass from his skipper. Arsenal wasted many chances in the first half, the best chances were missed by Van Persie, the Dutchman just seemed out of touch and another one was missed by Toure and many more by likes of Eboue. The score was 1-1 heading into the break.

After the break Arsenal tried their best to gain the lead but Reds denied them all the chances by some good defending. Arsenal were also unlucky when in the 65th minute Hleb had a wonderful chance in the box and Kuyt clearly dragged him off, but the referee denied the penalty and awarded a corner. Wenger attacked in second half with Walcott replacing Van Persie and Bendtner replacing Eboue, but the scores did not change.

Benitez will be happy that a have a away goal advantage, but as Wenger had admitted before the match he wont be disappointed with the draw and will look to setlle things straight at Anfield.
